This is a ticket for a gig that was originally scheduled for Friday, October 16, 1987, but for whatever reason was rescheduled for Sunday, February 21 and Monday, February 22, 1988. The venue was the legendary Klub Foot, Clarendon Hotel, Hammersmith, London (now sadly gone, to be replaced with...you've guessed it, a shopping mall). The front has the original scheduled date, price (£4.50), number (072) and the bands name plus two additional rubber stamp dates for the rescheduled shows. This was from the full cock sock era and the band obviously played naked, painted in illuminous paint.

My friend and I were at the 22nd show...we were from Toronto, traveling around, attended a formal at Cambridge two nights before, stumbling upon this show by a band who's latest record (Uplift) we had been brainwashing first year students at St. Michael's College, University of Toronto, for the past few months...somehow weaseled our way in (available tickets were NIL)...and ended up chest-high against the front of the stage. They came out topless (Flea was also only wearing underwear), but painted in this crazy florescent paint. Hillel had just a wide leg pair of jeans on...with spats and black shoes. At one point Anthony's mic stand fell and hit my friend in the head, my friend grabbed it and screamed into it, and we kept deflecting slam/aggressive/happy London peeps as I felt I would be sliced in half by the edge of the stage. One of those nights you remember everything. And here it is. |
